Use of social media to plan filming- Alice Nutter
We used blogger to look at other past blogs when looking to see what their opinions were on film posters that helped with out research and planing into our film.
We made sure when looking at thriller trailers for our research and what to include in our own psychological thriller 'Naughty List'. We also used the the upload button to be able to upload our pitch onto blogger, so that the examiners and members of the public could view what we have planned for our psychological thriller trailer.
We used the web search engine 'Google' to search for ideas about what we wanted to have as costumes for our characters. Along with helping us to make the mood board for our USP and Target audience. It also allowed us to get up thriller film posters to give us the idea for our own, when we looked at the film poster for the Christmas film 'Krampus' etc.
We used the online shopping site 'Ebay' to be able to find the Santa costume for our main antagonist 'Scarlett Rosewood'. We wanted a Santa costume with a head included, almost like a mascot costume, but of Santa Clause. This is because it creates the dramatic irony as the victims don't know who is inside the costume but the audience do. We also felt like having the head of Santa really makes the whole costume for creepy adding to our thriller genre.
Fonts and titles- Alice Nutter
We chose our font to be a sans serif font as we wanted to connote how sinister our film trailer would be. Though our film trailer is not completely serious in its theme. Considering it does contain a Santa Clause as the main antagonist and our trailer is centered around the festive holiday of Christmas. This is why we ultimately chose to make our release date 'Christmas 2018' because then it will attract a a mass audience as everyone being in the spirit of Christmas and wanting a Christmas movie to watch. We were also cautious to make the date in 2018 because it would be unrealistic to have this year as that doesn't allow time for the audience to anticipate its release as well as creating an excitement and hype surrounding it, which will ultimatum draw the audience in to watch it.
This is stereotypical convention of a trailer to have the directors names in it and we wanted to make our trailer as realistic as possible.
We chose the colour of our font to be red and white, this fit not only with the theme of thriller and the scary air it has about it, but also it homes in the Christmas theme. Though Christmas is seen as an innocent holiday it can easily be turned on its head to be made into the complete opposite. We chose to make the words "you" and "naughty" in our inter title to be red as it connotes that the audience watching it is in danger, therefore having the connotative effect of tension, adrenaline and suspense as well as a sense of paranoia and danger, which is what we want to inflict upon our audience considering our trailer is a psychological thriller. Leaving the audience questioning themselves, what is meant by the direct address of you. Then naughty is also coloured red as that's the colour you associate with being naughty connoting anger and danger.
Then finally we have the title of our film following the same theme as the other titles or captions as the word "naughty" is red. Also this is a stereotypical convention in a film trailer too and like with the directors name we wanted the trailer to be as realistic as possible.

London to Brighton Film analysis
London to Brighton
The production company of the film shown at the beginning of the film which is stereotypical of what you would find in any professional film trailer.
Urban environment in the middle of London in Piccadilly Circus. This is a stereotypical locations for a serious film to take place; especially as this film deals with serious social issues such as sex trafficking of young children. This connotes that something dangerous and probably 'gang' related is about to happen, as they stereotypical do in a an urban environment. You also have the non diegetic voice over of two women speaking to one another, this allowing us to get an insight into the young girls life on the streets before the trailer really even starts and allows the audience to get a sense of empathy with the main protagonist and emotionally connect with her right from the beginning.
Use of inter titles and they're mostly reviews from newspapers or magazines, such as in this one the times. The reviews connote that it's a highly loved film, and that it's a must watch. This therefore would engage a wider audience from the reader of the newspaper or magazine to watch the film as they would trust the papers opinion.
The close up that are frequently used within the film, connote the seriousness of the film also help to make the audience feel the intensity of the subject matter in the film, you also have the connotative effect of the audience feeling claustrophobic just like the girl in trailer must feel like when stuck in the mess she is in. Therefore helping the audience connect to the character more easily. It also catches the emotions of the characters more easily, for instance the fear of the girls when they're trying to get away from the men in the trailer who are after them.

This is the stereotypical kind of man you would expect in this type of thriller, and the Urban environment that is London. Denotations of this screen grab, being that he is rather ruff looking with shaggy facial hair, and nearly bald head. You can connote from the mise en scene of his outfit that he is part of a gang or criminal group. This means the audience can connote that the main protagonist girl is in danger.
The use of shot- reverse shot in the film between the two gang members helps to create a fast paced editing this then helps to creates tension and anticipation of what happens, this is stereotypical of a the thriller genre when it comes to film trailers. It also allows the audience to understand the narrative better.

This is were the non diegetic musics tempo gets faster, and this connotes to the audience that something big is about to happen and the action is about to start. Engages the audience as the fast paced editing make sit hard for the audience to take their eyes off the screen. Therefore the connotative effect is to create tension and excitement keeping the audience on the edge of their seats and wanting more. With the fast non diegtic music in the background you have the fast cuts between the two females in the bathroom with a lot of close ups of the girl crying as the women is trying to get the makeup off the girls face also ads to the anxious atmosphere, not just for the two protagonists in the film but also for the audience tension building up inside them hoping they get out alright and unhurt.

The weapon iconography of the gun the man is holding connotes danger and terror. The dramatic irony of the audience knowing that the man is loading the gun for the girls on the run, makes the audience almost feel a sense of panic for the two female characters, and a hope that they will get away without getting hurt or killed.
The amplified diegtic sound of the woman's breathing and crying as the man points the gun at them. This therefore connotes to the audience that something behind the screen something is happening to the girls that the audience can't see resulting in the audience wanting to find out more creating that anticipation of the film coming put fully in the cinema so they can watch the whole thing.
The cinematography with the sharp movements of the camera, connotes that they used a hand held camera to film parts of this film. This helps to create more actions and drama to the film and helps to pick up not only the tension and pace but also the distraught POV of the characters in the film, and makes it seem like we as the audience are experiencing what the girls are experiencing too.
When the title screen appears you hear the non- diegtic sound effect of the gun shot though rather cliche of the genre, summarises the film rather nicely and leaves the audience wondering if the men ended up shooting one of the girls.
You also have the fact that the title is in white sans serif font which connotes it's rather serious, which we find out with the subject of sex trafficking. White connotes innocence and purity which could represent the innocence of the young girl in the film as she is only 12 and doesn't really know the true extent of what she really is getting her self into. You then have the black background which makes the title really stand out, black connotes danger, loneliness etc. This could be a symbol for how the an innocent young girl gets roped into a dark criminal world. and her innocence and childhood is stripped away from her. Though a low budget film its rather effective in
how bold the title is and possibly the simplicity of it makes it seem more professional.
You now have the directors and the production company 'Vertigo films' this is stereotypical for being in a film trailer.
